I am a stay at home mom with two adorable boys and a wicked gene for a clean, orderly house (some may even call me a germaphobe). I would love to tell you that actually happens, but it doesn’t. I, like many other moms I know, often find myself at home cleaning up spilled cereal, squished string cheese, or anything else (gross) you can think of. I often find myself asking questions like “who knew a penny could write on walls?” or the ever present statement “No, your brother does not like it when you scream in his face”.
We have all been the frazzled mom in the store with everyone staring right? It was our busy-mom schedules that lead Jenika & I to come up with TraverseCityKids.com. In implementing this site we hope to become a resource for families and have some fun along the way. We are very excited to hear feedback from our users and grow our site.
I'm a stay at home mother of four boys. While I've worn many hats (massage therapist, photographer, insurance agent, etc.) my most enjoyable, and certainly most challenging, position has been that of a mother. I have delivered babies at home as well as in the operating room, I've served my toddlers organic tofu as well as drive-thru french-fries, I've cooked meals with a baby in a sling, a toddler wrapped around my leg, with a football zipping through the air and toy car zooming through the kitchen, and I've put everything on hold to watch my child gaze in wonder at an ant busy at work.
With all of the contrasts of motherhood, and the realization that my best intentions are not always realized, I feel that I'm a mostly balanced, well-rounded parent. When I chose the path of a stay at home mother, I began meeting more and more parents who recently embarked on this adventure. Many of them were baffled by what they could do to entertain themselves and their children in Traverse City.
I've really enjoyed working with Kristi to create a resource to entertain and educate parents, grandparents and children about all the possible ways that their days together can be filled with stimulation, fun, and wonder. We're so fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful and diverse areas in the United States--now it's time to get out and enjoy it with our children!
